Why Scientific Editing?Scientists whose native language is not English are often at a disadvantage when it comes to publishing their work. It helps to have the paper checked, corrected, and if necessary rewritten by a fluent user of the language. I am a native English speaker with an extensive scientific background who can assist with copy editing, rewriting, and organisation of scientific papers. You are entitled to have your work considered for publication on an equal footing with work submitted by a native English speaker. By having your paper reviewed and edited by someone totally fluent in English you can be sure that it will receive fair consideration, which unfortunately is not always the case. For more information, check here for information on how I correct your manuscript, how to submit a paper for editing, and my rates. QualificationsI am a semi-retired scientist living in Portugal. I have a Ph. D. in Theoretical Physics (Brown University, 1965) and have been working in oceanography and marine ecology since the late 1970's, so I have an extensive background in both the physical and biological sciences. I have also published papers on mathematics and systems theory. All in all, I have written about 170 scientific papers and reports. A list of publications since 1977 is available on the web, as is a list of recent research by topic. I have lived in the United States and Canada, so I am familiar with both styles of English, as well as with the English of the UK. I attended an excellent preparatory school in the US with a strong emphasis on good English writing (Hotchkiss) and graduated from Brown University, a member of the Ivy League. For more details about me and my background, you can check my resume or my list of current research interests, both located at my regular web site. |
