Preliminary Inquiries

You are welcome to send a document, or portions of a document, for preliminary review. There is no charge for this. You will be informed whether the English needs to be corrected at all, whether standard editing will suffice, or whether more extensive rewriting is advisable. You will receive a free estimate of the cost of the editing required. It is best to email the material to ciencia@silvert.org in a form that can be read with Microsoft Word, but there are other possibilities if this is not convenient.

If time permits, a short section will be edited and returned to you so that you can see what the finished product will look like.

Standard Submission

If possible, material should be submitted by email to ciencia@silvert.org. It is best if the document can be in Microsoft Word or a compatible format (such as Open Office).

You should designate whether you want the document to be in American, British, or Canadian English. Spell checking can be carried out in other forms of English (e.g., Australian), but I cannot guarantee that the style is optimal for other countries.

If the file is very large, you may want to take a look at some strategies for reducing the size of Word documents.

Alternative Approaches

If it is not possible to email the document, or if a different format is in use, or if you desire personal consultation, then please call me:

Document Preparation

Since rates are based on word count, which is done automatically, you should delete all material that does not need to be edited. This includes the name and address of the author, references, and numerical tables. If this is not possible, make arrangements in advance to designate the excluded material so that you will not be charged for it.
